Mission Statement

Sustainability | Bande Intimates

Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Bande Intimates, sustainability is at the core of our brand. We make mindful choices at every stage of production, from sourcing eco-friendly fabrics to working with ethical manufacturers and using recyclable packaging. Our goal is to minimize waste and create long-lasting, consciously made lingerie.

Ethical Production & Responsible Sourcing

All our lingerie is designed and developed in the UK and crafted in small production runs at a family-run factory in Portugal. By producing in small batches, we actively reduce overproduction and textile waste, aligning with the slow fashion movement. Ethical manufacturing practices ensure that each garment is made responsibly, respecting both people and the planet.

Eco-Friendly Fabrics with a Lower Environmental Footprint

Fabric choice plays a crucial role in sustainability, and we carefully select materials with a lower impact.

TENCEL™ Lyocell – Sourced from responsibly managed eucalyptus, oak, and birch forests, this fiber is produced using a closed-loop process, where 99% of water and solvents are recycled. It is known for being breathable, soft, and biodegradable.

MicroModal® – A fabric made from wood pulp harvested from FSC-certified forests in Austria. It is biodegradable, lightweight, and ultra-soft, maintaining its durability even after multiple washes.

GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton – The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) ensures that our organic cotton meets strict environmental and ethical guidelines. It is grown without harmful pesticides, requires less water than conventional cotton, and reduces carbon emissions.

Not all fabrics start with sustainable origins, but we ensure they have a clear pathway at the end of their lifecycle to be recycled. While recycled nylon can be repurposed once, it cannot be recycled indefinitely, which limits its long-term sustainability. This is why we focus on fabrics that support a true circular fashion economy.

Recyclable & Plastic-Free Packaging

We extend our commitment to sustainability beyond fabrics. Our packaging and swing tags are made from recyclable cardboard and paper, ensuring that every part of our supply chain aligns with eco-conscious values.

Slow Fashion Over Fast Fashion

The fashion industry produces an estimated 100 billion garments annually, with 92 million tonnes of textile waste ending up in landfills each year. Many of these garments are discarded due to fast fashion’s rapid turnover and low-quality production.

At Bande Intimates, we believe in a different approach. Underwear has one of the shortest lifespans in a wardrobe, which is why we focus on creating high-quality, long-lasting lingerie designed to withstand multiple washes and wear without losing its fit or softness. By embracing slow fashion, we encourage mindful consumption and reduce textile waste.

A Sustainable Future for Fashion

Sustainability is not just a marketing trend—it is a responsibility. Our commitment to eco-friendly fabrics, ethical production, recyclable packaging, and slow fashion principles reflects our dedication to a cleaner and more responsible fashion industry.

By choosing sustainable materials, supporting responsible production, and embracing mindful shopping habits, we can work together to make a lasting impact.
